North West Wedding Videographer Meets Tara and Dan
Nine months ago, I met up with Tara and Dan to discuss the possibility of making a wedding video for them. During our meeting, Dan explained how he had proposed to Tara one night whilst on holiday in Lapland. Dan, on his knees in the snow, waited patiently, as Tara admired the view over their resort - oblivious to Dan's forthcoming proposal! A minute or two later, Dan's knees were frozen, but his patience had prevailed: Tara turned around in surprise and said, "Yes!"
After their meeting, we discussed the possibility of making an engagement film. Although Tara and Dan loved the idea, they didn't quite commit to it until they had seen Jennifer and Luke's pre-wedding interview film (Part 1 / Part 2). Delighted, Tara and Dan decided that they would like to share their pre-wedding interview video with their wedding guests as they signed the register on their wedding day. Everything sounded perfect, but what would the film be about and where would we go to truly tell their story?
Tara and Dan had lots of ideas, "Let's get all of the groomsmen and bridesmaids together, and we can throw chalk onto each other and have a great laugh!" We considered re-enacting their proposal on a playground in a nearby park amongst other ideas, but whatever we discussed, we knew that we still had more brainstorming to do. After emailing back and forth over numerous days, Tara began to tell me about her first date with Dan: a trip to the Lake District, a journey on a boat and a visit to the chippy! The more I learned about this date, the more obvious it became to re-enact it; so we did.
The re-enactment: a North West Wedding Video to Remember
Some weeks later, during the early hours of the morning, Tara and Dan ventured to Rydal Water in the Lake District, so that we could tell their story together. Coincidentally, even the weather reflected their first date, as the rain swept the hills on a miserable, autumn day. Nevertheless, we made the most of the trip and enjoyed a misty start as we ventured into Rydal Cave!
Later, we headed to Lake Windermere where we enjoyed a boat trip and a chippy before heading back to Tara and Dan's home for their interviews.
